Mechanical Plant Technician required for a well-established family run business, situated north of Norwich. We are a fencing and pallet timber processing company and have been established for over 40 years and are looking for a competent technician/engineer to work within our business. The potential candidate must have previous experience and a keen interest in mechanical engineering. The position is full time.
We are looking to recruit a Mechanical Plant Technician to grow our existing team to maintain our extensive plant and machinery.
Job Details
- Pay:
- £35,000 – £42,000 per annum depending on hours and experience.
- Hours:
- Monday – Friday 44.5hrs
Holidays: 28 days per annum including bank holidays, Christmas fixed.
Candidate needs to be able to work confidently and independently to a high standard. Daily tasks will involve: – Pneumatics – fault diagnostics and repairs, hydraulics – fault diagnostics and repairs, welding, heavy plant repairs, servicing, changing bearings, changing sawblades and cutters, working to a maintenance schedule – regular lubrication, diagnostics and repairs on modern PLC controlled machinery. Understanding of Electrical control systems would be a benefit.
Duties to include general machine repairs and working to a maintenance schedule.
Due to the nature of the business, candidate must demonstrate safe working practices and awareness of certain health and safety regulations and protocols. The duties will cover a wide range of machinery and tasks both indoors and outdoors.
You will be working alongside our existing experienced sawmill engineers, all training will be given. The role will entail the individual to prioritise workload and demonstrate excellent attention to detail.

Team Leader (Production)
Location: North of Norwich
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: Immediate
We are a well-established, family-run timber processing business with over 40 years of experience, specialising in fencing, pallet timber, and firewood. Based just north of Norwich, we are looking for an experienced and hands-on Team Leader to support daily operations and lead a small production team.
This role is suited to someone with previous supervisory or team leadership experience, who is comfortable taking responsibility for people, performance, and safety while remaining actively involved on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of operators to achieve daily production targets
- Take ownership of the daily production schedule, ensuring work is delivered efficiently and on time
- Maintain a visible and active presence on the factory floor, supporting operators and driving standards
- Monitor performance, output, and quality, taking immediate corrective action where required
- Identify and minimise waste (material, time, and process inefficiencies)
- Ensure full compliance with site Health & Safety standards and safe systems of work
- Address day-to-day issues including staffing, machine downtime, and workflow disruption
- Provide on-the-job training, guidance, and support to team members
- Create a positive and engaging team environment, promoting accountability and teamwork
- Maintain high housekeeping and operational standards
- Act as the first point of escalation for operational issues on shift
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Team Leader or Supervisory role within a production or manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety in an industrial setting
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive performance
- Experience working to production schedules and targets
- Hands-on approach with willingness to work within the team
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to give clear direction and constructive feedback
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain standards in a fast-paced environment
- Physically fit and capable of manual work

- Pay:
- Hours: Monday–Thursday: 07:00–17:00
- Friday: 07:00–13:30
- Holiday: 28 days per year (including 8 Bank Holidays, 15 company-designated days during planned summer and Christmas shutdowns, and 5 flexible days)
